Stripes & Shoulders

When trying to get dressed in a hurry, black and white is one of the easiest color schemes to go to. Choose a pattern for one of those pieces and your outfit instantly becomes more interesting! That's the concept I applied to this outfit.

The stand out piece of this outfit is definitely this striped shirt from Charlotte Russe. This off the shoulder top is flirty and reminiscent of designs we've seen on Spring runways from brands like Creatures Of The Wind, Givenchy, and Proenza Schouler. The crisscross draping is my favorite detail.

I choose these comfortable Harem pants for bottoms. They're lightweight enough to keep me cool in the heat. Maybe one day I'll look back and wonder why I wore so many high-waisted bottoms, but for now I'll continue to be obsessed.

This black and silver necklace is the perfect piece to compliment my black and white theme. I completed this look with silver hoops, rings, and sandals. I did a simple flat twist around the front of my hair to keep it out of my face.

HAIR:

LAY THOSE EDGES

Because of my texture, I used to think it was impossible for me to get my edges to lay flat. Holding gel wouldn't last and other gels just made it curl up more. Luckily, I know what to do now. After applying a gel, I tie a scarf around  the front of my hair and let it sit for at least 10 minutes. Take the scarf off and BOOM. You've got laid edges, girl.

MAKEUP:

GET GLOWING

I used two powders to create a glow and emphasize my highlight. 1. Black Opal Deluxe Finishing Powder in 04: I used this powder on the bottom half of my face and on my forehead. This product is super affordable at just $8.  2. Bobbi Brown's Sheer Finish Pressed Powder in Golden Brown 9: I used this in all of the places I wanted to appear brighter (under my eyes, the middle of my forehead, down my nose, and the middle of my chin).

MAKE EM BLUSH

Yes, chocolate girls can have rosy cheeks too! I honestly never knew what shade of blush would flatter my skin. I took a trip to the Bobbi Brown counter and this Plum 5 blush from Brobbi Brown has been my go to ever since.
