See Through

I gave in to the hype and binge watched 13 Reasons Why on Netflix. If you haven't heard of it, it's a Netflix series detailing why Hannah, a teenage girl, decided to end her life. Her story is told from her point of view on cassette tapes, each listing a person, a story, and the reason they let her down. Watching 13 Reasons Why reminded me of how often we see through people. We see people everyday, but we don't always see them.

We get so busy moving from point A to point B that the people around us become a blur. Crowds of people are reduced to background characters in our stories, completely forgetting that the person next to us is playing a lead role of their own.

Of course, we can't be deeply connected to every person we pass. I'm not telling you to start hugging strangers. But I do want you to look at your relationships. How many people are you seeing through instead of truly seeing? When was the last time you visited your grandparents or had a meaningful phone call with a cousin? I'm also talking to myself here because I suck at this.

We should all make an effort to check in often. Ask someone you love how they're doing and push them to give you a real answer. Not the one word answer we often get. No one wants to be see through.

What isss see through is this fab crochet top (did you like my transition? haha).  Two words, you guys: bell sleeves. Crochet + Bell Sleeves = A combination I can't pass up. This top felt elegant, so I kept it simple with a black skirt. I added a flower crown to make this look a bit more fun and youthful.

As the weather warms up, we'll be seeing more see thorough ensembles on the street. Sheer, fish net, crochet, and more. I'm a fan. Are you into see through pieces? Have you adapted the bad habit of seeing through people? Let me know in the comments below or join the conversation on my Instagram!
